Our women’s English classes have been running for over 10 years now! It’s been beautiful to see our student body grow from just a handful in 2013 to having served 114 women in the past school year (and nearly 70 preschool aged children as well!).

We ran a book drive last year and have been giving out books all year and it has been so much fun. This has encouraged them and their children to read at home, giving them more exposure to English vocabulary and the culture of the United States. The women and their kids have loved the books.

You can help! We’re having a book drive!

We’d love donations of gently used books to offer on a regular basis to our English students in Nashville.

What we’re looking for:

  • Children’s Picture Books (preferably not with dense pages of text)
  • Easy reader books in fiction or non-fiction (Little Bear, Frog and Toad, easy reader topical science books)
  • VERY easy (first or second grade level) chapter books (The Hundred Dresses, Boxcar Children, Cam Jansen)
  • Easy children’s classics (Secret Garden, Narnia, Boxcar Children)

You can drop off book donations in JULY ONLY on Mondays-Thursdays 9am to 4pm at the Servant Group offices (506 Tanksley Avenue, Nashville TN 37211). Outside of those hours please email Colleen at colleen@servantgroup.org (or text at 208-596-2532) to schedule a different drop-off time.  [You can also order used books (or new) off of our Amazon wish list!]

The last day to drop off books for this book drive will be July 26th.
