We are so grateful for the work and service of Darlette, one of our volunteers working with the Sew For Hope Program! She’s been so helpful during this crazy pandemic season and will continue to be a great part of our volunteer team after we’re able to meet together again!

My association with Sew for Hope began near the end of November 2019 with a phone call to Bonnie. I had fabric I didn’t need and was told by a friend that Sew for Hope might be able to use it. During the conversation I asked if they needed any teachers. They did! I took fabric over to Thrift Smart where the classes were and met with Bonnie.

After discussing the options with my husband, Ernie, we prayed about me becoming a teacher for Sew For Hope. I received a spirit of peace about it. I enjoy being able to help the ladies learn and improve their sewing skills.

I looked forward to class every Thursday and now I miss seeing my students. I enjoy sharing what I know. Not going in to my regular work has given me extra time to sew, create proto-types and write out instructions for masks. I thank God for the sewing knowledge and abilities, and while this semester is not what I thought it would be, I am glad that I have been able to help. “
