Thus far, the U.S. has evacuated more than 65,000 Afghans. Roughly a third are in the US, a third in Europe and a third in Asia; almost all are on military bases. As of right now (early September) we don’t know which states will receive these people over the coming months. The task of vetting and filling out paperwork takes a lot of time and it will only be slowed by the large numbers needing to be processed. In the meantime, we’ve found ways to serve and help those Afghans already in our community while we wait to see if any more will be resettled in our area.
Here are some ways you can help:

3. You can pray for our Afghan friends here as they grieve for family members still in Afghanistan and worry over their safety. Nearly everyone has relatives still in Afghanistan and communication is spotty at best.
Thank you for partnering with us to love and serve our Muslim and refugee neighbors. This next season is going to be slow and messy and hard for each of these families—the ones already here, and the ones that will be coming.
